The Communications team at the Institute of Food Research has been
substantially strengthened by two new appointments.
Nutrition scientist Jo Belsten has been appointed as Press and Media
Officer and she will be the initial contact for all media interaction.
Prior to joining the Communications team she has been working at IFR on
projects to understand how much iron is needed by babies during weaning.
Helen Penny joins IFR as Science Communication Officer. She is
responsible for developing our programme to maximise public access, and
all our visits management. Since graduating from Bristol in Biological
Sciences in 1998 she has gained science communication and writing
experience at the BBC Natural History Unit, Royal Museum of Scotland, the
Isle of Rhum Project (on red deer) and VEGA Charitable Trust.
Catherine Reynolds, Head of Communications, said "These two new
appointments will enable IFR to develop further its already considerable
activity in communicating independent scientific information to academics,
industry, the media and the general public".
