Current Projects
Metabolomics
The Metabolomics Partnership provides expertise in a wide field of subjects and proposes metabolomics-based analysis to colleagues at the John Innes Centre (JIC) and the Institute of Food Research (IFR) as well as partners outside BBSRC.
We have currently collaborations with colleagues covering most of the science programmes at IFR and with partners from Europe and USA.
Examples of recent collaborations:
- Profiling of intact wheat arabinoxylans by spectroscopy
- An NMR-based pharmacometabonomic study of CYP3A4 activity
- Proton NMR reveals effect on urine metabolite profiles after consumption of polyphenol enriched dark chocolate
- NMR and DGGE on faecal waters from UC and IBS patients
- Microbiology, plant genomics and food analysis with the IFR metabolomics platform
- Human studies with the IFR metabolomics platform
- Use of metabolomics to find markers of zinc status in plasma and urine from Peruvian infants
- Strategies for metabolomic studies involving human dietary interventions: the use of genetic algorithms to select discriminating variables
- Dietary fatty acids and the metabolite profiles of plasma and stomach tissue in an animal model of oesophageal cancer
- Measuring the Effects of Cold-Storage on the ChemicalComposition of Potato Tubers using 1H-NMR Metabolite Profiling
- Metabolic profiling techniques for detecting unintendedeffects of genetic modification
